Our 3 pillars
Life – Health – Environment
These are the three values core to our marketplace, and hold dear our commitment to cruelty-free, sustainable, high-quality, health-conscious, and ethical trading.
ETHICALAnimals & Humans
To love and respect all life. Creating a cruelty-free zone, promoting the rights and wellbeing of all living creatures, not using or consuming any animal products or conducting animal testing. No hides or skins (including leather, suede, wool, fur, silk, down, feathers, angora, shearling, cashmere), and meat-free, dairy-free, egg-free. These ethics also extend to global supply chains and manufacturing operations - striving to improve the working conditions for people, to uphold ethical labour laws, promote fair trade, and protect human rights worldwide.
To care for ourselves, with all plant-based and natural living. No toxic or harmful ingredients, abrasive synthetic colouring, fragrances or fabrics (using only low impact fiber reactive dyes), no SLES, SLS, PEGs, parabens, triclosan, triclocarban, any Formaldehyde donating preservatives, the following petroleum-based ingredients (PABA, Benzene, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Phthalates, Toluene), BPA plastics, Methylisothiazolinone (MI), or Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).
To protect our planet, creating sustainable eco-friendly alternatives, for low-carbon trading, reduced pollution, a ban on Microbeads, and minimising deforestation, greenhouse gases, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones”, habitat loss, and species extinction. This includes a no conflict palm oil policy, using only traceable palm oil that is free of deforestation, expansion on carbon-rich peatlands, and human rights violations.
To champion health, biodiversity, and sustainability.
To minimise any harm caused to ourselves, others, or to the environment around us.
To empower small business, and enable ethical economic opportunity.
To celebrate artisan, skilled, and small batch producers, and dedication to craftsmanship.
To empower the consumer, by providing informed choice, exceptional quality, and a cruelty-free ‘feel good‘ shopping experience.
– Veopolis, raison d’être
We believe in the power of people,
and that our everyday choices can improve the world around us. These choices are in the products we use, the food we eat, and how we choose to spend our money. Thanks to the internet and social media the worldwide web has become the great enabler for people and communities to come together, connect, and create real changes from how we live and work. With this power we are able to make the best decisions for ourselves and others, to purchase ethically, healthily, and environmentally, and improve the world we live in.
Our vision for Veopolis is to provide the online shopping community to make these choices simple, effortless, easy, and fun. A place to find new products, discover new brands, taste new food, and feel good about the choices we make.
ETHOS: the clip from ‘A Time for Change’ is a 2011 documentary written-directed by Pete McGrain and hosted by Woody Harrelson- demonstrating the value and importance of ethical consumerism, and how we can make meaningful and sustainable change to create a world in which we can live happily and harmoniously in a clean environment.
= Ethics + Quality. This is our hashtag guarantee that all the products and brands on our platform share our collective values, with a commitment to providing exceptional quality ethical goods. Quality, not cruelty.
Who we support
We understand that true sustainability means looking at many aspects of our lives and our business, including who supplies our energy, who provides our phone & broadband, who grows our food, and who we trust with our money. So we choose only the most socially responsible organisations and suppliers, to ensure that we’re powered by 100% green renewable energy (Good Energy), ethical phone & broadband (Phone Co-op), stockfree vegan organic farmers (VON Vegan Organic Network), and ethical, transparent, sustainable banking with Triodos Bank.
As part of our continued support within the community we actively organise, volunteer and participate in events, fundraisers, workshops, and retreats. We also officially sponsor VON Events, are official Supporters for Veganuary 2017 and 2018, and contribute donations to earth-friendly businesses, organisations, support groups, social causes, charities, societies, and associations. These are selected based on recommendations from the Veopolis family (vendors, customers, friends, suppliers, and trade partners), on rotation each month as a way to support the global community, and to promote sustainable, ethical, eco-living.
